You GP is very used to addressing a broad array of mental health presentations across all age groups, ranging from sleep issues or stress management to school refusal, eating disorders and anxiety / depression, PTSD or neurodivergence. Treatments might include assessment and counselling, lifestyle modifications, school or workplace support, referral to a psychologist / specialist or medication prescription.
At Barwon Heads Family Practice we are lucky to have psychologists that work onsite who are available to see patients with or without a GP referral and manage a broad range of psychological conditions.
A GP referral is generally required in order to obtain a medicare rebate when you see a psychologist. If you are interested in booking a consultation please ring our clinic on 03 4244 1030 or book with your doctor to discuss.
